The tradition of shooting off fireworks and using noisemakers on New Year’s Eve likely originated in ancient times when loud sounds and fire were believed to ward off evil and, thus, bring good luck. In Florida's beloved Ancient City, this ancient tradition continues to be spectacular year after year.
The fireworks display by the City of St. Augustine Beach blasts off from the St. Johns County Pier on Anastasia Island. Erupting at 8:30pm, beautiful bursts will light up the coastal shoreline for roughly 20 minutes.
Once beach parking fills up for spectators, overflow may be available at St. Augustine Beach City Hall, Ron Parker Park, Anastasia Square parking lot and the YMCA. Additionally, a shuttle service typically runs from Anastasia Baptist Church.
According to event coordinators, ideal viewing locations for New Year’s Eve fireworks in St. Augustine are:

- Driving Beach access at “A” Street beach ramp (4×4 vehicles only)
- Pedestrian Beach Access from 10th Street South to A Street
