Here’s a fun fact: St. Augustine is the patron saint of brewers. Seriously! So, it makes perfect sense that St. Augustine breweries are brewing some really good beer. Whether you're heading in for a day trip to St. Augustine, relaxing for a few days, or you're lucky enough to be a local, check out these St. Augustine breweries for a pint, flight or growler.

And if you're in The City Beautiful, there are plenty of Orlando breweries to savor too!

Cheers to St. Augustine Breweries

1. Bog Brewing Company

218 W. King St., St. Augustine, FL 32084

The beer list at Bog Brewing Company embodies influences of Belgian, German and American-Farmhouse style ales. But this Kings District brewery also makes some bold flavor choices by tapping into St. Augustine roots.

The Smoked Datil Ale, for example, spices things up by using local Datil peppers. This green to yellowish-golden aromatic hot pepper is primarily harvested in the St. Augustine area. Another shining star is called Light in the Dark, a 10% Belgian Tripel, that is aged in St. Augustine Distillery bourbon barrels.

Bog Brewing Company occasionally hosts fun events. Plus, the Tacos My Blessing food truck is onsite most days of the week.

2. Bootlegger Beach Brewing

691 A1A Beach Blvd., St. Augustine, FL 32080

Bootlegger Beach Brewing is the alcohol arm of Jack’s Bar-B-Que. Just a block off the beach, expect a casual, laid-back vibe.

The 100 Oranges Beer is a crowd pleaser. This brew features the zest of 100 oranges, caramelized sugar and coriander. Lightweights will appreciate that the Brud Leicht, a German-style pilsner that's just 3% ABV.

3. Dog Rose Brewing Co.

77 Bridge St., St., Augustine, FL 32084

In the historic neighborhood of Lincolnville, this spacious brewery has a decent-sized performance stage for live musical acts. And there’s plenty of other entertainment too, including table shuffle board.

While you’re inside, be sure to take note of the handcrafted Ambrosia maple bar. Also, the quaint outdoor seating is shaded by overheld canopies.

Paying homage to St. Augustine's iconic Lion’s Bridge, try the Lions Head Honey Sour. You’ll taste subtle notes of wild flower honey in this kettle sour beer. On the weekends, you can nosh on pub grab thanks to the Eats by Dog Rose food truck.

4. Old Coast Ales

300 Anastasia Blvd., St. Augustine, FL 32080

Old Coast Ales brewed its first beer, the Empirical IPA, in a garage. Obviously, this brewery has expanded to the delight of beer drinks, but its current space is still modest and cozy.

Old Coast Ales neighbors Osprey Tacos on Anastasia Island. If you get some tacos–and I recommend that you do–the Mexican Lager is a refreshing complement. The tap list is fairly varied though. For example, the Kookaburra is a coffee-infused brown and the Static Haze is a hoppy IPA with grapefruit.

5. Hornski's Brewing Co.

100 Anastasia Blvd, St. Augustine, FL 32080

In the space that formerly housed Hornski's Vinyl Lounge, Hornski's Brewing Co. is the new kid on the block. Speaking of kids, this brewery is uniquely family-friendly with free-to-play arcade games. There's also rotating food trucks and an eclectic vintage aesthetic.

Hornski's is a microbrewery so it's small but certainly big on flavors. They've declared, ” We brew a little bit of everything, from crisp lagers to juicy IPAs, and round out the taplist with guest craft brews, hard cider on tap, a curated wine list, seltzers, kombucha, classic domestics and non-alcoholic options.”

BONUS: After a hiatus, St. Augustine Brewery Tours resumed business with guide tour options (walking, bus and boat).

TAPPED OUT: Unfortunately, St. Augustine's oldest brewery, Ancient City Brewery recently closed its doors following evictions at both of the brewery’s former locations: its downtown taproom at 18 Cathedral Place and its production facility at 3420 Agricultural Center Drive. Such a bummer! As of press time, I am still purchasing their beer at retailers but am unsure of the company's future.
