Old Jail Museum

167 San Marco Ave, St. Augustine, FL 32084

See historic reenactments, immerse yourself in interactive exhibits and enjoy seeing what life was like at the old jail. Note that the Old Jail Museum is not ideal for the littlest of children as difficult topics are addressed. But children a bit more mature will do just fine.

The Witty Whisker Cat Cafe

112 N Ponce De Leon Blvd Unit A, St. Augustine, Fl 32084

My first experience with a cat cafe was in Japan and I didn’t know what to expect. Dozens of kitties swerved around my legs, looking for love, perhaps adoption, but mostly just my attention. I sipped on a cold drink and let calm and happiness wash over me. That, in its essence, is all a purrrfect cat cafe is meant to do.

So, bring your children on a garbage weather day (or a good day!) to enjoy a ray of sunshine (and maybe a hot chocolate and cookies) in the cat cafe. Be aware that parents must sign a waiver for children, but all are welcome.

World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX Theater

One World Golf Place St. Augustine, FL 32092

Do you remember when every Friday night was a night out to the movies? I remember those days. We usually fueled up on sugar at the sweet shop first, then headed to the movies. 3D was all the rage, and if you could get an IMAX ticket… well, watch out because you’d hit the jackpot.

Well, it can be like that again thanks to this gem of a place. With North Florida’s huge IMAX theater, enjoy a similar experience to see educational and Hollywood film hits on the big, big, BIG screen.

Indoor Places for Kids in St. Augustine

OIdest Wooden School House

20-30 St George St, Augustine, FL 32084

I still remember my school visit to this interesting attraction on St. George Street from when I was a little tot in elementary school. I took home a slate chalkboard and pencil. I swear it was my most prized possession, at least until the excitement wore off.

Kids will love visiting this popular museum to see how kiddos used to learn. And they'll also probably love all the wooden toys and gifts in the gift shop even more.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not

19 San Marco Ave, St. Augustine, FL 32084

One of the first things you’ll see rolling into the historic lanes of St. Augustine is the impressive Ripley’s building. Offering the typical bizarre artifacts, like shrunken heads and scientific marvels, this intriguing museum also boasts several other attractions for visitors.

Some offerings include the Red Train Tours, operating as a vessel to sites around town, as well as haunted investigations and a mini golf course.

Side note, if you're interested in visiting Ripley's Believe It or Not in Orlando, our sibling site Orlando-Parenting.com has a great guide.

Potter’s Wax Museum

31 Orange St, St. Augustine, FL 32084

No surprise here (in a town full of “oldest this” and “oldest that”), Potter’s is the oldest wax museum in the country. What makes this museum a particular standout is that the wax figures aren’t just of pop stars and celebrities.

Rather, this place focuses many of its 160+ figures on historical representations of famous folks of the past. Among the mix is Marie Antoinette, Winston Churchill, Albert Einstein, countless American presidents, and many more.
