One of the many things I love about being an Orlandoan is how easy it is to make a quick getaway happen. With nearby beaches, adorable small towns, and romantic destinations just an hour or two away, Central Florida is ideal for weekend trips.
One such weekend trip enabled by my husband and me to turn a family cruise into a larger romantic getaway. Our hosted, two-night stay at Embassy Suites Deerfield Beach Resort & Spa, enabled us to explore the results of a multi-year renovation, and it delivered. This beachside resort has what couples crave in a Florida escape: space to breathe, beautiful surroundings, and intentional moments to slow down together.
Romance at Embassy Suites Deerfield Beach Resort & Spa
From the moment we arrived, the resort felt refreshed and calm, with updated touches that balance coastal style and comfort. It was the kind of place that encourages you to unpack, exhale, and stay present.

Renovated Suites That Give Couples Room to Unwind
One of the most appealing aspects of this stay for a couples getaway is the all-suite layout. Having a separate living space and two full bathrooms made the experience feel indulgent rather than cramped, especially compared to standard hotel rooms.
The renovation shines here, with clean lines, modern finishes, and a layout that supports lingering mornings and unhurried evenings. I loved having my own space to get ready in the morning and also get refreshed for the evening. And, the reading chair in the bedroom provided a cozy nook for me to enjoy some much-needed quiet time to read. The suite design adds ease and comfort to the stay.

Mornings began slowly, often out on the private balcony, taking in the ocean breeze and soft light as the day started. These moments became part of the rhythm of the trip and set a peaceful tone before heading to the pool, beach, or spa.
It’s a small detail, but one that makes a big difference when the goal is connection and relaxation rather than rushing from place to place.
Walkable Beach Access
Perched seven stories tall, Embassy Suites Deerfield Beach Resort & Spa sits on the shore. The beachfront location is another standout for couples. The hotel is positioned along a one-way street, which makes crossing to the beach feel far more relaxed than navigating a busy two-way road.

A wide sidewalk leads along the water toward the pier, creating an easy and scenic walk that’s perfect for morning or sunset strolls.
And another feature of this resort is the Beach Terrace Restaurant, open for lunch and dinner, which is practically on the beach itself.

We didn’t make it all the way to the famous Deerfield Beach pier during our stay, simply because we were enjoying the pool and resort atmosphere so much, but the walk itself is part of the appeal.
Spa950: A Couples Spa Experience
What truly elevated this Florida getaway into something special was time spent at Spa950. Tucked inside the resort, the spa feels like a quiet retreat from the outside world and an intentional space to reset together.
We each enjoyed different massage experiences tailored to our needs since our son was with us this trip. But I was kindly shown the couple's treatment room which offers a lovely hideaway where couples can enjoy side-by-side massages and time in the private hot tub.

I opted for a 50-minute warm stone massage, and the therapist remarked on how tight and tense I was, something I hadn’t fully realized until the stress began to melt away. The warmth of the stones combined with steady pressure was deeply grounding and restorative.
My husband chose a deep muscle massage, which left him noticeably more relaxed afterward. Walking back to our suite together, there was a shared sense of calm that carried through the rest of our stay. Conversations felt softer, the pace slowed, and it was clear we had fully shifted into vacation mode.
For couples planning a Florida beach getaway, Spa950 defines the stay and turns a weekend away into genuine rejuvenation.

Thoughtful Details
A few practical touches made the experience feel seamless. The parking garage offers direct elevator access, allowing guests to go straight from car to room without navigating the lobby or switching elevators. It’s a small detail that makes arrival and departure noticeably easier.
Inside the suite, a QR code for housekeeping tipping added a modern, thoughtful touch that eliminated the need for cash and one more thing to remember.

Our stay took place just before a Disney cruise departing from Fort Lauderdale, and the location worked beautifully as a pre-cruise hotel. The drive to Port Everglades is about 30 minutes, making it close enough for convenience while still feeling removed from port-area crowds.
