As an Orlando native and lifelong lover of live theater, I left the Dr. Phillips Center after Shucked with a full heart and a huge smile. Not only did the show deliver big laughs and charming heart, but during the post-show talkback, the cast made it clear: they loved us. They felt our energy, our joy, and our laughter. One cast member said our audience ranked in their top three cities so far on the tour.
That’s not something to take lightly. It’s a compliment to our city, our local theater scene, and the one-of-a-kind experience that is a night out at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. I want the rest of Orlando to step up to the stalk! Let’s keep showing this cast how incredible our city is, and how deeply we love live theater. After all, this is the FINAL show in the 24/25 Broadway in Orlando season!
If you’re looking for the perfect summer date night or night out with friends, don’t miss Shucked, running June 24–29, 2025, at the Walt Disney Theater. This Tony Award-winning musical comedy is clever, heartfelt, a little chaotic—in the best way—and packed with corny and a few risky jokes.

What the Cast Had to Say
During the talkback, the cast gushed about their favorite numbers in the show. Several performers named the Act One finale, “Corn Reprise,” as their favorite moment. One cast member described it as where melodies collide in a thrilling burst of energy. For fans of musical theater, it’s one of those scenes where everything just clicks.
Another actor talked about the joy of being one of the first to walk on stage and look out into “a sea of strangers” and think, “Here we go.” That moment, they said, is when the show, a musical about corn, declares: “This is exactly what you signed up for.” And judging by the roar of laughter and applause, the audience was right there with them.
Another cast member called out the heartbeat woven into the percussion of “certain scenes “That's How You Say I Do”, fading in and out depending on which characters are speaking. These layers of sound and storytelling elevate Shucked beyond simple laughs.
Also, shout out to Danielle Wade, who plays Maizy in The North American Tour of Shucked. Not only is she so talented, but she goes by “Dani” just like me!

“Top 3” Audience Energy
The cast also made it clear: Orlando showed up. After the performance, one performer turned to a fellow castmate and said, “That’s gotta be top three.” It was their first night in town, and our audience’s warmth, laughter, and responsiveness made a huge impression.
They even compared our city to past audiences in major theater hubs like Chicago and Washington D.C.
Now, if you aren't familiar, a major part of Shucked in the city of Tampa. Yes, our lovely I-4 neighbors play a starring role in this show. Naturally, this Orlando audience was curious about how the Tampa audience reacted to Tampa being a key part of the show. Thankfully, we Floridians know how to lovingly laugh at ourselves.
“To be loved is to be seen,” they said. And Shucked sees its audience, quirks and all.
So Orlando, let’s keep showing this cast they’re in good hands. Let’s make every night here one to remember.
