Walt Disney World just announced the biggest update details for Walt's iconic Carousel of Progress. After celebrating change for so many years, this attraction is officially receiving updates to the ride, a perfect way to move with the times and relate to a new generation of Disney fans.
All the new updates will arrive sometime in 2027, and for couples who are longtime fans of Walt and his Disney dreams, you'll want to make plans experience these upcoming changes!
For now, we're sharing everything important to know about the Carousel of Progress's “Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow!”
If you're looking for one last nostalgic ride, you have until June 6, 2026.
WHAT'S NEW
An Animatronic of Walt Disney
An all-new animatronic, made possible through the magic of Audio-Animatronics technology, Walt Disney will now stand in a scene inspired by the 1964 special “Disneyland Goes to the World’s Fair.” This scene will welcome a new age of storytelling with the ride's American family.
New Time Periods and New Scenes
Act 1: The 1960s
Going back six decades, this is where the Carousel family will witness the life-changing Moon landing.
Act 2: The 1980s
In the 1980s, we will get to spend time with the family on the night of Halloween. Here, “Sarah” will greet guests and introduce technology that—at that time—made her family's life easier. Keep your eyes out for Uncle Orville here, he's just looking for some privacy!
Act 3: The New Mellennium
Fast forward two decades, and now we will get to see the family celebrating New Year's Eve, welcoming a whole new century, the 2000s. This is where the Internet will first be introduced to the world!

Act 4: The Possible Future
In Act 4, the (maybe not so) distant future, the Carousel family experiences an “out-of-this-world home,” with robot assistance and innovations unlike the current world has ever seen.
While the years continue, and technology develops, Walt Disney World is making sure to keep Walt's vision of progress alive, and we're sure these new updates will fit right in with the times!
