Recreational sport leagues are winners for date nights ─ no matter your skill level. For those in a relationship, participation in coed sports leagues allows you to bond with your partner over a shared activity, positively encourage one another, find cool couple friends, have fun together and increase endorphins through exercise (which can help with other aspects of your relationship too… wink wink).

For singles looking to find potential date night suitors, coed sports leagues in Orlando offer a social opportunity to meet like-minded people who just so happen to enjoy your favorite pastime.

Orlando Area coed sports leagues and activities

1. Axe Throwing

Cupid may have used a bow-and-arrow but, these days, lovers may prefer axe throwing to hit the date night mark. Several date night destinations, such as The Trap, offer this exhilarating sport. League options are offered by Bananas’ Axe Cabana and Epic Axe Throwing.

2. Bar Games (Trivia, Darts, Ping Pong, etc.)

Maybe traditional team sports aren’t your thing and yet you’d be into friendly competition in a social setting. Bar games can be a great way to flex those brain muscles and engage in playful banter over a pint.

Trivia Nation hosts weekly trivia nights at breweries and pubs. Meanwhile, places like The District Gastrobar and Player 1 Video Game Bar offer casual dart leagues and tournaments. If you’d really like to target darts, check out Greater Orlando League Darts or Orlando Pub Dart League.

3. Bocce

Venues, like Pinstripes Orlando, have bocce courts that can be reserved for a date night. Think lawn bowling meets Italian café culture! For a French-inspired date night Disney-style, book dining reservations at Toppolino's Terrace for rooftop views, French Riviera vibes, and stop by the bocce court for a fun game before or after dinner.

4. Bowling

Normally, one wouldn’t aim to strike out on a date night, but that’s the plan when bowling, a classic couples’ game. Whether you’re scoring spares or throwing gutter balls, you’ll have a blast at venues like Aloma Bowl and Boardwalk Bowl, which offer adult coed sports leagues.

Plus, Better Off Bowling Coed Social League and Orlando Club Sport know how to make bowling the best weekly pastime for bowling enthusiasts. And OUT Orlando Sports League, a LGBTQ+ friendly league, also offers bowling.

5. Cornhole

This beanbag-tossing favorite has gone from dominating tailgates to dominating date nights. Join leagues hosted by Central Florida Cornhole, OUT Sports League, Orlando Club Sport, and Orlando Social Cornhole. Cornhole is a simple way to get out and socialize while keeping the competition light.

For some casual cornhole (or bags as some folks call it), head to some favorite outdoor dining spots like The Yardery, The Acre, and more.

6. CrossFit & Functional Fitness

In addition to solo workouts, Orlando CrossFit gyms schedule partner (and/or team) workouts to fit you and your fit significant other. Plus, competitions usually have a male-female combo or ratio requirement. Yup, many couples enjoy the shared sense of achievement from grinding through workouts side-by-side.

7. Curling

Some nights are for curling up on the couch together; and some nights are for curling on the ice together. The Orlando Curling Club meets at the Ice Factory of Central Florida in Kissimmee. A ridiculous amount of fun can be had by couples.

8. Cycling

Years ago, my husband and I started with indoor spin together as a weekly gym date. We loved it so much that we evolved to trail rides and road races. We’ve now been cycling for years, and these bike rides are still some of my favorite weekend activities.

Orlando has a ton of cycle clubs, such as Central Florida Tri Club, Seminole Cyclists and Nona Cycle Club. Find a complete list of options on the Bike/Walk Central Florida webpage.

9. Disc Golf

The sport of disc golf offers a fun spin on the traditional game of golf. Players throw a Frisbee toward large metal basket targets on either modified golf courses or stand-alone disc golf sites.

This could be a hole-in-one opportunity to do with your one-and-only. Courses like Barnett Park Disc Golf Course and Bill Frederick Park provide serene backdrops. Local clubs like Orlando Disc Golf Club hold regular coed meetups and tournaments, perfect for making friends and improving your game.

10. Dodgeball

Want to release some stress (or maybe some playful frustration)? Coed dodgeball leagues are a blast. It’s fast, competitive, and will get you both laughing (and ducking) nonstop. Try dodgeball with OUT Sports League or UCF’s intermural league.

11. Fencing

Something totally different, fencing offers a romantic “swordplay” experience. Plus, it’s surprisingly aerobic and mentally engaging. Althought these are classes rather than a league, give fencing a go at Orlando Fencing Club, Orlando Fencing Sports Center, or even through the City of Orlando.

12. Flag Football

Ready to tackle date night? A coed sports league, like football, can be fun and flirty, especially if you’re used to tailgating together or hitting the sports bar on game day. 8CoedSports and Orlando Club Sport are both winning league options. Again, games are typically followed by socials, adding to the team spirit of it all.

13. Footgolf

A mash-up of soccer and golf, footgolf is a fun twist for athletic couples. Orange Lake Golf in Kissimmee is the go-to for a footgolf league. If you want a taste of this fun sport without the commitment, try it at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course.

Sand/beach or indoor, volleyball is a dynamic sport couples can play together. Phil Dalhausser Beach Volleyball Academy based out of Boxi Park, Orlando Club Sport, OUT Sports League, Sofive and the YMCA offer recreational coed volleyball leagues.

Tips for Couples Joining Coed Leagues

  • Communicate your goals. Are you playing for fun, fitness, or to win? Make sure you’re on the same page.
  • Mix it up. Try different leagues to find what you both enjoy. It’s okay if one sport doesn’t stick.
  • Keep it playful. A little competition is fun—just don’t let it turn into relationship drama.
  • Be social. Many leagues include post-game hangouts. It’s a great way to make couple friends and grow your social circle.

Boost your bond, and try something new. Orlando’s coed sports scene is overflowing with fun opportunities for couples. So lace up, team up, and let the games begin!
