Great Southern Box Company Events and Casual Date Night Ideas

Once upon a time, Orlando boomed with a bounty of orange groves. And to ship the citrus fruit therein, multiple massive packing houses packaged up the oranges and shipped them across the country. Although such places are rare today, the Packing District in Orlando honors these roots. Here you'll find The Great Southern Box Company food hall.

Whether you’re going out for a date night, a girls’ night, or a solo night, you’ll find fun events, great food options, and a welcoming atmosphere at the Great Southern Box Company. Come along for a trip to the food hall. You can dress up or wear your comfiest clothes. Just bring your appetite and curiosity!

The Space

Established in 1938, the Great Southern Box Company building was originally a citrus packing house, constructed by the Dr. P. Phillips Company. The 13,000-square-foot space was repurposed and opened as a food hall in the Packing District in May 2024, now serving as an event space as well. It looks like it opened yesterday with how clean it is inside and out!

Parking

Thankfully, parking is a breeze with a free parking garage across from the food hall entrance. When you walk out of the parking garage, you’ll see a sign with a calendar of events for the month, and then step onto the patio where you can sit down and relax at covered benches and tables, lounge in a lawn chair, or play a game on the lawn.

At night, the stringed lights illuminate the lawn, making it a nice spot to slow down, catch the sunset, and enjoy good conversations.
