The weather is fine and the city’s green spaces are exploding with color. Now is the perfect time to plan a romantic picnic. Here are three of my favorite spots:
LAKE EOLA PARK: this urban oasis in the heart of downtown features a mile-long path around the “lake.” You’ll find lots of little spots to snuggle up and there is a Panera right there (227 North Eola Drive) if you need somewhere to grab your lunch.
On Sundays, the Downtown Orlando Farmers’ Market is packed with vendors (10am – 4pm) offering everything from kettle corn and snow cones to gourmet cheeses and breads. Grab your picnic provisions and find a warm spot in the sun to enjoy.
LAKE LILY PARK: This pretty little spot (shown in image above) with its duck-filled pond and tranquil walking trail is great any time, but I particularly love it on Wednesday nights during the Lake Lily Food Truck Cafe, 6pm – 9pm. Another option is during the Maitland Farmers’ Market every Sunday from 9am – 2pm when live music and lots of gourmet vendors create a festive vibe.
ALBIN POLASEK MUSEUM AND SCULPTURE GARDEN: Located on Winter Park’s beautiful Lake Osceola, the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens was once the retirement home of a celebrated sculptor. On a gorgeous 75-degree day, like the ones we’re having right now, you’ll be hard pressed to find a prettier or more peaceful place to laze a few hours away. $5 per person will give you access to the three-acre oasis filled with sculptures and currently in bloom with roses and camellias. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am – 4pm and on Sunday from 1pm to 4pm.
