Orlando Buzz

Last Sunday we did something I have wanted to do for years… we finally headed out onto Lake Eola via a swan boat.

The little dock located on the north end of Lake Eola by Relax Grill has a dozen swan boats and four gondola-style boats, which each rent for $15/half hour. You don’t need a reservation; you just walk up during the hours of operation (see below) and snag a boat from the boat concessions. They take cash or credit.

Last year, the City of Orlando began allowing patrons to rent these little crafts at night, which means you’ll get a great view of the nightly fountain light/music show at 8pm and 9:30pm. Officially there is no booze allowed, but if you sneak a bottle of bubbly, I’ll never tell.

Ideal as a little extra add-on for any date night (after dinner in Thornton Park or during the Orlando Farmer’s Market at Lake Eola Park), I think a swan boat ride would be especially sweet for a first date or a memorable way to pop the big question.
