I’m not one for writing restaurant reviews. In fact, I’m more than happy to leave that task to the likes of Joseph Hayes and Scott Joseph, experts in telling readers all about where to eat and why.
But I do know a thing or two about great date nights and where to have ‘em. RanGetsu in Maitland is one of those places. Perched near the edge of beautiful Lake Lily, this chic Japanese restaurant scored HUGE points with me last Saturday when my hubby and I visited for our inaugural feast. Besides phenomenal food, here are a few of its best features:

- Happy hour drink specials EVERY DAY from 5pm – 7pm (including $3.50 wine and $5 martinis).
- A very sharable menu of items such as sushi and robata (small portions of grilled meat, fish, and veggies… sooooo yummy!).
- A posh outdoor lounge, open until 2 a.m., perfect for those nights when you’re looking for just apps and cocktails.
Besides the daily happy hour, RanGetsu also lures in diners with $1 nigiri (sushi) on Mondays, 1/2 off robata on Tuesdays, and $1 martinis for ladies on Thursdays. With these specials, you can absolutely make this a $30 date night.
Another bonus: RanGetsu’s proximity to Lake Lily makes it possible to cap off the night with a romantic stroll or lakeside chat.
