We've long been fans of Marlow's Tavern in Winter Park. One of three area locations (there's also one in Waterford Lakes and one at Pointe Orlando), Marlow's is the sort of place where you can get a quality meal for two that's prepared in a scratch kitchen and paired with reasonably priced drinks for around $60.
But if you're really looking to dine on a budget, you'll want to check out Marlow's Tavern's happy hour. Held from 3pm – 7pm at the Winter Park location on Orange Avenue, this daily affair features $3 domestic drafts, $4 glasses of select wines and $4 premium wells. In addition, you can also choose from a selection of four Start/Snack/Share specials priced at $5 each.
We sampled all four bar bite selections at a recent visit and while we wouldn't classify this bar feast as healthy, few could deny the ooey gooey deliciousness of burgers, kettle chips and flatbreads all slathered in cheese.
Marlow's Tavern also gets bonus points for its setting. Unlike most bar spaces, which are cramped and crowded, the bar area at Marlow's Tavern in Winter Park is huge. You can sit at a high top at the bar, grab a seat at a table or settle into one of the cozy couches or lounge chairs.
One more perk: this happy hour kicks back in again at 9pm to close.
THE GRADE
Drinks: there's a good selection and the prices are cheap
Food: bar quality but tasty
Setting: really relaxing and spacious
Value: you can get two drinks and all four bar bites for $30. That's a good deal in our books!
We give Marlow's an overall grade of A-. It would have been great to see a few mixed cocktails offered at happy hour prices, but overall the selection of food and drinks were terrific and the prices were great.
